Hospice of Kankakee Valley benefits from Exelon's Annual Fishing for a Cure event!

HKV is honored to have been chosen by Exelon's planning committee to be the recipient of funds raised from their annual fishing derby. One of 3 hospices chosen, HKV accepted a check for over $15,000 at the May 2nd event in Braidwood.

Hospice of Kankakee Valley wishes to thank Exelon's Fishing for a Cure team for the funds raised in this year's derby. What a wonderful team of selfless employees!

Each year Fishing for a Cure raises money for a local charity selected by employees. The charity must have a connection to a Braidwood employee and the local community. Exelon puts up the prize money and pays the cost of staging the event, allowing 100% of the money raised through boat entries and raffles to go directly to the charity. In its first 13 years, Fishing for a Cure has raised more than $365,000 for charity.

Fishing for a Cure is our facilitys signature event, one that demonstrates our commitment to the communities we serve, said Braidwood Site Vice President Mark Kanavos. Were proud of our residents spirit of giving and their willingness to pitch in and help. As an organization dedicated to being good corporate citizens by providing safe, reliable, environmentally friendly electricity, were proud to sponsor this fun-filled day that helps so many in the community.
