Local district receives $2,700 for its Kindergarten Readiness Project
The Herscher Community Unit School District #2 is pleased to announce that the Community Foundation of Kankakee River Valley has awarded $2,700 to the Herscher school district for its Kindergarten Readiness Project. The project is designed to prepare incoming students and their parents for the transition to kindergarten. The hallmark event of the project is the Kindergarten Parent Caf. This event is a special night that allows participants to make positive connections with kindergarten teachers as well as learn more of what the first year of school will entail. At the end of the event, parents and students receive a tote filled with fun educational materials to enjoy over the summer prior to the start of school.
This project is of great value to the community. Feedback from both parents and educators has been immensely positive. Such a project is only made possible thanks to the generous support of organizations like the Community Foundation. The Herscher school district is thankful for the Community Foundations continued dedication to early childhood education and its ongoing support of the Kindergarten Readiness Project.
